Navigator and Pioneer Week!

Alright ladies and gentlemen, here's the week we've all been waiting for...N&P week! The camp gets divided into 2 teams, Navigators who are blue and Pioneers who are red, and the entire session is devoted to competing in exciting challenges that lead up to a winning team at the end of the week. Some activities include human battleship (with chalk, water balloons, and a big tarp!), raft building, and capture the flag! Camp looks, sounds, and feels just a little different than normal, with red balloons and blue streamers, cheers and songs that scream with unit pride, and the constant strategy and plotting that goes into gaining more points for your team. At the end of the week, there will be a huge relay race and finale that will determine the winning team. Here are some pictures of the week so far:

Centennial Celebration!

Today we celebrate Camp Colman's 100th year of serving campers and families from the Greater Seattle area and around the world! This weekend will be filled with fun activities like arts & crafts, the giant swing and climbing tower, and amazing food (what would this weekend be without GOOP?), giving alumni the chance to catch up, tell stories of the past, and make new memories with friends and family. Thanks to all who have made Camp Colman such a wonderful place these past hundred years, and here's to a hundred more to come!

Knot Tying Wall

At our magnificent climbing tower, we now have a new attraction for those waiting in line to climb and wanting to pick up new skills. Various knots that are often configured in such high rope elements are shown on the wall as a means to teach campers how to master these beautiful creations! Knots like the Figure Eight, Bowline, Butterfly, Clove Hitch, and Square Knots are fun to learn, and the more times you practice, the easier the knots become to put together!

LIT Overnight!

The Leaders in Training program consists of boys and girls going into 9th and 10th grade who want to gain leadership and teamwork skills, while still getting to enjoy the magic of Camp Colman. Within a 2-week program, LITs get to plan and host an all camp activity, do service projects around camp, and bond over many activities and initiatives. Today they packed up some canoes and took off for an overnight trip at a nearby site where they get to set up camp, swim, make food and plan their own campfire! We can't wait for them to return tomorrow but hope they are having a blast in this sunshine :)

Tie-Dye at camp!

One of our favorite things to do at camp is tie-dye! Tie-dying is a fun process of sectioning off parts of clothing and dying them different colors, often making cool and funky patterns, and our craft shop is the perfect place to try out these skills with your cabin. Whether it's your shirts, socks, or a sweet head band, bring something white to camp and give it a little color this summer!
